Peter Turchin: the ecologist using datasets and models from history to predict the future

I’d highly recommend this long read from The Atlantic outlining the work of Peter Turchin. A former ecologist, he uses the mathematics of his former subject to bring a wider and longer view of history. I’d never thought about the fact that maths and history don’t go together – but maybe they should. He predicts a tough 5-10 years ahead…
